General Sense has signed a $12 million Letter of Intent (LOI) with 3DK9 Detection Services, the fastest-growing private canine detection company in the United States. The agreement establishes 3DK9 as General Sense's first commercial deployment partner for the Nose-Computer Interface (NCI).
3DK9 is a Miami-based canine detection company founded by Tyler Randall and Frank Cilurso. They deploy mobile K9 teams for narcotics, explosives, weapons, and contraband detection across all 50 states, operating in 65+ customer facilities.

Before 3DK9, there was no scalable private-sector alternative to government K9 units. Cilurso identified the gap while operating a family substance abuse treatment center — rehabilitation facilities had no reliable way to screen for narcotics on-site. 3DK9 filled it and scaled nationally.
Every detection dog today is trained to alert on a single compound class. A narcotics dog does not detect explosives. An explosives dog does not detect fentanyl. Expanding coverage means more dogs, more handlers, more cost.
The NCI eliminates that constraint. By decoding odor signatures from neural activity rather than relying on behavioral conditioning, one dog covers an expanding library of target compounds. The operational impact:
Technology without distribution is a lab experiment. General Sense needed a deployment partner with three things: national-scale operations, established client relationships in high-consequence environments, and the operational maturity to integrate new technology without disrupting active service contracts.
3DK9 has all three. They have the handlers. They have the dogs. They have the logistics infrastructure and the client trust built over years of reliable service to corrections administrators, event producers, and corporate security directors. What they did not have was the technology to make every dog a universal detector.
A $12M LOI will start with a pilot and scale over the next 2-3 years. 3DK9 projects 100+ units per year based on their existing facility footprint. They are not speculating about demand — they are quantifying it against contracts already in place.
The relationship also has a research dimension. Cilurso is a named collaborator on General Sense's National Science Foundation (NSF) Convergence Accelerator grant, creating a direct feedback loop between field operations and applied research. Operational requirements inform the science. The science improves operational performance. That cycle is how detection technology matures from prototype to infrastructure.
For General Sense, this LOI converts a technology thesis into a commercial deployment plan with a named partner, a defined unit volume, and an existing client base that already pays for detection services.
